Deanery Briefing with Bishop Stephen Cottrell and Canon John Spence
This is the first of a series of On-line briefings from the National Deaneries Network.
He will offer some insight and thoughts on what sort of church and what will the church landscape look like in the future.
Bishop Stephen Cottrell Archbishop of York Designate is taking up his new ministry at a time when the church and society is faced with a speed of change never experienced before. How we respond to these opportunities are high on the list of priorities at the start of this next phase of his ministry as Archbishop of York.
The ongoing Covid-19 restrictions and the resulting lockdown has placed enormous financial pressures on all aspects of the Churches activities.
- How will this impact on our plans for the future?
- What will happen to existing and planned support initiatives?
- Will our Renewal and Reform agenda be pared down?
With the publication of the Archbishop’s Council budget for 2021 only a week before and the cancelation of the July sessions of General Synod this will be the first opportunity to hear at first hand from the Finance Chair of the Archbishops’ Council, Canon John Spence.
John Spence is Finance Chair of the Archbishops’ Council and will detail how the Church plans to meet these financial challenges and underpin the mission and ministry programmes. More on: John Spence here.
There will be opportunity to question and comment on the financial plans
